Lit.3321 M&W Genre Projects

All the class has presented their projects and all of them were great. Every project had their creative way of teaching their class. I thought that every group will engage their readers and even those students that don't like to read. This class was an great experience for me which I got to see and hear different ways of teaching. Good LUCK to everyone on their teaching.

Lit. 3321-350 M&W genre project

I enjoyed the First group that presented their projects. I was impressed on the way the whole group worked on putting it together. They took each others opinion and made it into a great idea. I enjoyed the story play they did for the class and that will really engage young students to listen to the story as well to use their little imagination. The costumes were great and interesting and very creative. You will be excellent teachers and the children will love your class.

Lit. class 3321 M&W read aloud video

I enjoyed the read aloud with Ms. Myers I saw that the children were very engaged in the story.
When she started to read the book she talked about the author which is important to know. She had a well managed class which a teacher should be able to do so all of her students can learn and enjoy the read aloud. Ms. Myers also stopped through the story and asked questions and the children would answer and this allowed them to comet with the story as well. In every story you will be able to see problems and the children can find solutions and that is where their critical thinking begins. I enjoyed hearing the children make predictions to the story and that will keep the children engaged because it gets them excited and they feel as if they are part of the story.

Lit. class 3321-350 M&W Non-Fiction

Non-Fiction is based on factual facts. Children enjoy to read on books that contain factual info. on animals. We read non-fiction all the time unless you choose to read a fiction book. We drive and on the way to our destination we see all types of signs and especially when we are hungry and trying to figure out what we want to eat, the sign appears and that helps us decide, sometimes or we vote on it. I find non-fiction books helpful and some are intersting.

Lit. 3321-350 M&W Fiction Books

Today in class we did a fiction book and what fiction meant to us. Just about the whole thought about fiction the same way. children enjoy fairy tales because they get into the story. Many children imagine that they are the super hero or think that they can feel the magic of the story.
After the story children have a hard time coming down from cloud nine because the book could be intense that they couldn't put the book alone. So books could be suspense, horror, magical,etc.. I get into the suspense books because I enjoy making predictions until I read the ending. When I read with my daughter we act like the characters in the story and we somtimes change the ending and we get into the story. Fiction books are great for children because they use sthis to get into creative writing and that is a great tool to help them with their writing skills.
As a teacher I would read a ffiction book and have the children create their own ending to the story which we can all share with each other.

Lit.3321 M&W Chapter 7

Picture Books are part of our world. I have bought pictures for my children and it engages them to read. picture books can tell you how the story is going to end or you can draw conclusions by the pictures. When I read to my children I have them look at the pictures before I read and we start to make predictions about the story. Many pictures tell you the story and some of them just makes the story fun and the colors are out there. teachers should have a library full of picture books and age appropriate for there children so they can enjoy them. I believe these books are very important and we shouldneverfeel that we are to old for this type of books. We use these books as visual aids for all readers.

Lit.3321 M&W Author profile

The picture book I enjoyed reading is " But Mom,Everybody Else Does" Author Kay winters and pictures by Doug Cushman. This is a funny picture book which presents universal situations in most families. This book is for ages 3-8, however parents purchase this book for there teenagers.
the little girl in this book is trying to convince her mother that her acts and desires are not only
legitimate but also universal. We as parents have heard everybody does it , nobody goes to bed early, everybody has this type of shoes etc. As a teacher I would use pattern books to spark creative writing. This book was chosen by the children's book of the month as one of their selection and it has also been translated into Arabic.

Lit. 3321-350 M&W chapter 6

Chapter 6 is about Traditional Literature and we all learned about different cultures through this type of literature. Libraries now have a good selection on books that have different cultures and stories that children can relate to. The book fairs that the schools have have traditional literature and children seem to buy stories they can relate to and they get drawn to the colorful pictures. However children like books that allows them to use their imaganation which I thing it expands thier knowledge as well. Schools now teach children about other countrys and they have activites to go along with it which makes it more intersting. The book Beautiful Black Bird is agreat book it teachesmany things but the on thingthat caught my eye was when you read that the beauty comes from within andnot what you see in the outside. Ifyou haven't read this book I recommend it.

Lit.M&W 3321-350 Author Profile

Don't step on the sky has a hand of Haiku's. The author of this book is Miriam Chaikin. This is about nature and its beauty. It take the young reader from the morning, through the day, and into the night. This poetry book captures the young readers imagination as well. I recommend this book for lower levels.
Another poetry book is Truth and Lies which is a great book for teenagers. The author for this book is Patrice Vecchione. This book is about the emotions that teens go through especically when it involves lies. I really recommend this book for upper grades. I think teens will relate to this type of poetry.

Lit. 3321-350 M&W Chapter3 Comprehension& Vocabulary

Chapter 3 was very intersting because everything we do is through comprehension. We use vocabulary everyday we just don't notice it. Every since we were taught to read teachers have questions us about the story which got us better in compreheding. I read to my daughter and I always tell her a little bit about the book and I ask her what she thinks is going to happen in the story. I think when you have children engaged in astory before reading it they will be ready for thestory andthe comprehension will be there. Teachers build the children's comprehension through different activities, reading groups, fun websities, and this will build thier vocabulary
as well. I play a game with my daughter using spelling words and I use this strategy to study and prepare herfor the test. There is many ways to engage children without boring them and it makes learning fun. Picture books can help young readers in thier comprehension because some of the pictures pretty tell thechildren what is happening or what is going to happen. My daughter is into Junie B. Jones, Magic Tree House these book series are engaging literature which can also
build their imagination.

Lit. 3321 M&W Chapter 2 Culturaaly Responsive

Chapter 2 is a very interesting because we are surround bya diverse culture. Teahers are more acceptable to a diverse classroom nowthan it was before which makes it easier for our childern. My childern are mixed and I have taught them about both culture back ground that they have which I also prepared my daughterbefore she started school. Black History month iscelebrated in public schools which I think is great. My Eight year daughter lovesto read about Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, and manymoreof these types of stories. She read The Story of Ruby Bridges and went into tears this was during Black History month, she asked meso many questions about the teachers in that story. She was so glad that teachers now have a diverse classroom where childern can feel comfortable and make learning fun. A classroom needs to have a welcoming envirnoment to every student regardless oftheir culture background. School is the place where childern get an education anda guidence to reach their goals. I also read Aunt Harriet's Underground Railroad in the Sky top mydaughter and she likethe book. Culture is an important issuse that we all face and it is not only in classrooms. I believe that in an Eduation degree you needto take a Multicultural class, well I did in St. Phillips that was in my degree plan.

Children's Lit. 3321-001 M&W

The web site that I found helpful was www.edupaperback.org/showauth.cpmauthid=16- ithas a ton of authors and info. about them. Ted Arnold has a good selction of children books that I have enjoyed reading to my childern. The two books I foud helpful for kinder teachers is Green Wilma
it is a rhymingbook that helps the children learn thier colors through rhymin. Another that I readto my daughter was Axle Annie thisbook is about a fun school bus that childern ride in. I thought that this book would changemy daughters mind andthat she would wantto ride the bus.
I was wrong but a mother will try anything even if it is through books. I tell my daughter that reading is everything in life and She enjoys reading and through out the school year and summer she is an engaged reader. I think that teachers need to making reading fun but the responsibility is also the parents. goodreading habits start at home and it is reenforced at school. As for chapter 1 I can not comment on that since I haven't received my book.
